La Fratrie (Luc et Karim Berchiche)

The two brothers behind La Fratrie, Karim and Luc Berchiche, create fascinating sculptures that are both precise and evocative. These works aim to question man and his relationship to his environment. They create suspended minature islands out of multiple materials that mark the artists as craftsmen of a utopian world in the proper sense ("place which is not"). These aerial rocks constitute so many worlds in themselves, illusions uprooted from their original space. Singular and complex fiction, they introduce narrative scenes most often allegorical but also real reflections on the brevity and fragility of life.
