Bruno Peinado

French artist Bruno Peinado appropriates iconic images and pop cultural references to create a parallel world in the exhibition space, in the process creating new registrations, contexts, and conversations surrounding common images. His work involves materials and images like disco balls, skateboards and surfboards, Tetris, Rubik’s cube, and smiley faces. Clichés and slogans transform into criticisms of contemporary pop culture and consumerism. 

Peinado’s solo exhibitions include Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and FRAC de Pays de la Loire in Carquefou, France. In 2006 he was nominated for the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize. Peinado teaches at the European School of Art of Bittany in Quimper, France.
