Like his paintings, painter and filmmaker Erik Schmidt's drawings are based on photographs. They often focus on individual actors in urban life and isolate them from the crowd. Gouaches on newspaper have been part of Erik Schmidt's repertoire for years. For Provinz he selected two motifs with bicycle couriers, which are painted with a few skillful brush strokes in bright colors, executed as high-quality archival fine art prints on Hahnemühle paper. The title-giving headlines, image and text reports charge them with contemporary content.
