EXPO CHICAGO Announces 2013 Exhibitors
The scene at the 2012 EXPO CHICAGO fair

This fall marks the sophomore return of the Midwest’s heavily anticipated comeback fair, EXPO CHICAGO. After a praised inaugural run last year, the event is heading back to the Navy Piers on September 19-22 with 120 galleries from 34 countries, an expansion over last year’s 100 exhibitors. (But still far more manageable than the 400 that crowded Art Chicago, the now-closed Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., fair formerly helmed by EXPO CHICAGO president Tony Karman.)

Dealers Rhona Hoffman, Chris D'Amelio, Anthony Meier, and Michael Kohn comprised the selection committee that was responsible for adding a few new galleries to the fray this year, including Milan's Massimo de Carlo and Athens' The Breeder, as well as for bringing back notable names to round two, such as David Zwirner, Kavi Gupta, James Cohan, and Luhring Augustine.

The "EXPOSURE" section of the fair once again gathers solo or two-person presentations by young galleries like On Stellar Rays, Andrew Rafacz, and Benrimon Contemporary, while, outside the booths, the city is gearing up for  Gallery Weekend Chicago and specially priced museum ticketing as part of the newly dubbed "Expo Art Week," September 16-22.
