Video: A Look Inside Lucian Freud's Painting Studios

David Dawson , now the director of the Lucian Freud Archive, was once the assistant to one of the most imporant portrait painters of the 20th century. For twenty years, Dawson acted as Freud's studio assistant, but also as his friend and model. A very private person, Freud only painted those that were close to them, and thus had very intimate relationships with his models.

To celebrate the release of Phaidon's new monograph, Lucian Freud , the most comprehensive publiscation on the artist to date, Dawson reveals Freud's studios (he had one day time, and one for night time), and speaks about some of his working habits. Watch the short videos below:
