About The Work
Sarah Charlesworth produced a large, attractive portfolio of photolithographs, including her Tartan series, to which Black Stewart belongs. Though the subject of Charlesworth’s print is indeed the Royal Stewart tartan, the multicolored geometric lines are no doubt in conversation with art historical masterpieces such as Piet Mondrian’s Composition with Yellow, Blue, and Red (1937-42).
