Antonio Ballester Moreno

A Spanish painter with a Thoreau-like penchant for nature and recluse anarchy, Antonio Ballester Moreno’s unique and authentic aesthetic is at once darkly humorous and conceptually dynamic. Rendered with bold color, broad brushstrokes and child-like forms, the work itself evokes the raw, unsettling nature of outsider art, however there is also a careful and passionate method to the madness. References include everything from the Werner Herzog's documentary Grizzly Man and writings by John Cage to the bizarre anti-establishment manifesto of “Unabomer” Ted Kaczinski.  Ballester Moreno has even expanded on characters and scenes from the drawings of his young son, Pepe, interweaving them into a fantasy world of social and historical commentary.

Ballester Moreno has exhibited in a number of international solo shows including Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Castilla y Leon, Leon, Spain, Los 29enchufes, Madrid, Espacio Abisal, Bilbao, Spain, Peres Projects Kreuzberg, Berlin, Jeong Song Art Center, Seoul and Maisterravalbuena, Madrid. Group exhibitions include Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid, Stand Peres Projects, London, Centro de Arte Santa Mónica, Barcelona and Museu de Pollença, Pollença, Spain.
