Charlotte Mumm

The eclectic oevure of German artist Charlotte Mumm includes painting, drawing and sculpture. In a serial work completed in 2015, the artist created a suite of paintings that explored the role of the frame and the concept of boundary. Using strips of fabric to isolate sections of the canvas, the artist created miniature paintings within paintings, nesting one within the other, blurring the roles of background and frame.

Mumm has exhibited widely in Germany such as Städtische Galerie Nordhorn, Steelwork, Kunstverein, and Galerie Tanit. She has also exhibited in The Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, and China.
