Choong Kam Kow

Dr. Choong Kam Kow's distinctive style fuses Eastern and Western aesthetics, merging their cultures and histories, theories and practices, techniques and media. For Choong, change in his work is an evolving process where culture, philosophy, nature and social environments are pursued in depth and innovative approaches are incorporated to achieve the best visual effects. Possessed by the intellectual spirit his time, Choog's work probes its cultural surroundings, integrating and synthesizing, to define new meanings and values in his creative endeavors.

By the mid '60s, Choong was able to travel to the U.S. under a Fulbright Grant. In New York, the artist became heavily influenced by Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Hardedge, Conceptualism and other international movements between the '60s and '80s. His work has been shown internationally, and is collected by major institutions around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Art Gallery in Malaysia, and the Taipei Fine Art Museum. His work is also included in numerous private and corporate collections globally.
