Eloise Hawser

Eloise Hawser’s interdisciplinary practice revolves around industrial materials and the “inherent mutability of everyday objects.” Her films, photography, sculpture, and installations seek to reconfigure or repurpose industrial processes, be it 3D printing or polypropylene molds. Addressing the banal qualities of items including roller doors used for security outside of shops in London, her father’s shoes, and obsolete items such as the cinema organ, Hawser alters the roles of her materials. She mutates the constitution of these objects and proves that their designated purposes may be more complicated than originally assumed.

Hawser has exhibited at institutions including MHKA, Antwerp, ICA Offsite, London, Museum fur Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt, Kunstverein Wiesbaden, Germany, and the Contemporary Art Society, among a number of other venues in the United Kingdom and Europe. Recent shows include ICA, London, Tate Britain, London, Surround Audience, Triennial, New Museum, New York, Astrup Fearnley Museum, Oslo, M HKA, Antwerp, Belgium, Rodeo, Istanbul, Turkey, Sandy Brown, Berlin, Germany, ZERO, Milan, and Vilma Gold, London, UK. She has had solo Presentations at Frieze Art Fair, London, UK, Liste 18, Basel with VI, VII (Oslo), and Haus der Braut, VI, VII (Oslo).
