Florin Stefan

Florin Stefan is a Romanian artist. He lives and works in Cluj, the second artistic capital right after Bucharest. Stefan’s paintings feature interior and genre scenes, as well as portraits, nudes and landscapes. Feminine figures are abundant in his work—“sitting, leaning, drowsed in front of a mirror, cleaning themselves, or in bed, they all reflect the instant, the desire that arises and become blunted, the attraction” as Ami Barak writes. Stefan has a peculiar vision of things that surround him, and his subjects are expressed through color, light and material.

Stefan has shown his work at Galerie Anne-Sarah Bénichou, Paris, France, Galerie Le Plafond, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Musée des Beaux-Arts, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Galerie de l’Union des Artistes, Bistrita, Romania, Vonderau Museum, Fulda, Germany, and Galerie MAP, Bosa, Sardaigne, Italy, among many others throughout Europe. He lives and works in Cluj, Romania, where he also runs an art center.
