Gerri Davis

Gerri Davis is a New York City based artist whose paintings unearth implausible conditions and positions, expanding the visual-spatial-temporal field to a dreamscape of transfigurations, unfurling in time. Figures translate through glass into duplicate and quadruplicate. Others are squeezed into the confines of paintings such as the Bather or Bordel; in Dance an aerialist hurls himself in an tensile arc overhead, tapping toes with his plurality of selves.  The Annunciation's virgin Mary sprawls out in a distended New York City where she is immobilized by the descending light of an anthropomorphized arthropod-angel. Her most recent solo exhibition was at Bridge Gallery, NYC.

Consciousness is a singular of which the plural is unknown and what appears to be the plurality is merely a series of different aspects of this one thing.
