Ivan Comas

Argentinian artist Ivan Comas works with industrial materials such as house paint, cement and stucco to create organic paintings that address notions of urban decay and visual interventions of urban space. Exploring elements of graffiti and vandalism, Comas’ work creates a conversation around metropolitan issues such as gentrification and social transformation. In some of his most recent works, Comas layers printed images of organic shadows over textured industrial surfaces to call attention to the tension between the natural landscape and municipal environment, especially in certain Latin American cities.

Comas has shown his work in a number of exhibitions, including shows at Steve Turner Contemporary, Los Angeles, DUVE Berlin, DE, Juan Vergez & Patricia Pearson Collection, Buenos Aires, Hab Galerie, Nantes, France, and Galerie Farideh Cadot, Paris. He participated in 2016 ZONA MACO with DUVE Berlin in Mexico City.
