Ivin Ballen

On the subject of his work’s intent, Brooklyn-based artist Ivin Ballen has stated, “In my recent practice a painting functions primarily as an object. One can measure an object’s value by different standards, such as actual material valuation, functionality, or sentimentality... The objects and materials that I use are for the most part egalitarian.”

Recently, Ballen has been featured in exhibitions in New York at Bannerette, Projekt722, and Blackston Gallery and in Ferndale Michigan at Susanne Hilberry Gallery. His work has also been reviewed in the Brooklyn Rail, Artforum, Time Out NYC, well as other publications. He is represented
 by Susanne Hilberry Gallery.
