Utilizing a variety of textured supports including linen, couch upholstery, and burlap, Manford paints domestic interiors which flicker, vibrate, and glow, capturing light in a manner reminiscent of Impressionism. His compositions depict scenes and objects both real and imagined, combining things of personal value with an archive of curios the artist keeps catalogues. As such, the imagery mirrors the idea of memory itself, as a collection of real and falsified events.
He has done recent projects with Freight and Volume, NY, Arts & Leisure, NY, and One River School and Gallery, Westport, CT. Manford is also a co-founder of the Brooklyn-based artist collective Underdonk and is an adjunct professor at Pratt Institute.
