Jochen Schmith

Jochen Schmith is a Hamburg based art collective formed in 2000 by three graduates from the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg: Carola Wagenplast (born in 1975 in Stuttgart), Peter Hoppe (born in 1971 in Capetown) and Peter Steckroth (born in 1973 in Stuttgart). Their objects, installations, and audio visual works investigate systems of power such as consumerism and institutions, often commenting on the fetishism of luxury lifestyles.

Jochen Schmith has had solo exhibitions at VI, VII in Oslo and Galerie Esther Donatz in Munich, and Villa Concordia in Bamburg. Its works have been presented in group exhibitions at institutions such as Kunsthaus Bregenz, Kunstverein Braunschweig, and Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof.
