Julia Jacquette

Frequently exploring themes of possession and desire, Julia Jacquette creates works that are both meticulously detailed and alluring. Often languorously constructing the curves of her subjects, Jacquette's paintings present richly textured common objects, from locks of hair and glasses of whisky to slices of pie and crystal chandeliers. The series White Paintings (2001) explores the luscious materiality of wedding gowns and bouquets, evoking envy from the viewer, even as it provokes admiration for her estimable technique. Her works have been exhibited in numerous public and private institutions, including Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, MoMA PS1, and the Museum of Modern Art.
