Katie Croft

Katie Croft is an artist, entrepreneur, community activist and educator. Her career began in Texas while working with The Waco Cultural Arts Fest, a nonprofit community-based arts initiative. Katherine was an organizer, curator, fundraiser, and artist liaison for WCAF. From there she opened her first fine art gallery in the then-struggling downtown sector of Waco, where a downtown arts scene slowly emerged. A second gallery and print shop followed in Austin, Texas where she participated in the beginnings of Print Austin, hosted ICON (The Illustration Conference) exhibition, and collaborated with organizations like Flatbed Press and the National Parks Print Project. After many years of supporting artists and communities she turned her focus inward and came to Pratt for her MFA in painting and drawing. Though she will remain a constant advocate for the arts, she is now focusing on her own work, exploring themes of place, domesticity, feminine structures, and body values. She was a finalist for the 2019 AXA Art Prize and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY with her two children.
