Keith Alexander

Keith Alexander is hailed for redefining the Namib Desert with his unique hyperrealist paintings. His unpopulated, stark landscapes are littered with ruins, skulls, snakes, blinding sun and ominous mist. Nature has overcome humanity, and Alexander depicts the isolation of the desert with quiet calm. One is immediately transplanted to his unforgiving terrain, where heat regulates a slower speed and the dramatic bleached landscape is reminiscent of Salvador Dali’s melting details or Yves Tanguy’s mirages. His wooden sculptures are similarly serene but alien, appearing like primitive tools repurposed as totems to their origins. Alexander’s work has been on the auction block extensively since his untimely death.
