Marlon Wobst

The surreal, painterly compositions of German artist Marlon Wobst explore fragmentation, subtle imperfection and abstruse genre, incorporating flesh-colored paint, misshapen forms and split frames. His bodies emerge directly form the canvas, interacting with various figurative elements amidst cloudy brushstrokes. Redefining traditional notions of landscape in works like LÖSCHTEICH, 2015, Wobst often works in a process of layering and scraping paint to create a unique textural surface.

Wobst has shown in a number of exhibitions both in Germany and abroad, including the Freies Museum, Berlin, Galerie Greulich, Frankfurt, Galeria Transversal, São Paulo and SCHWARZ CONTEMPORARY, Berlin.
