Mateo Tannatt

Mateo Tannatt is an L.A.-based artist who creates sculpture as a means of exploring performance, video, and interactions with space. He creates painstaking model and molds in order to explore a dialogue of materiality, working with industrial producers and collaborative studios to produce these objects. Often incorporating actors, performers or sounds into his installations of manufactured props, Tannatt encourages his viewers to interact with each piece. In on such work, Tannatt dropped a baby grand piano from 80 feet, creating an audio “composition” that was created through destruction.

Tannatt’s works have been exhibited widely at commercial and institutional venues around the world including CCA Wattis, the ICA Philadelphia, the Hammer Museum, Frieze Projects, ArtParcours, and Performa 11 in New York. Recent gallery exhibitions include INOVA, Milwaukee, Gallery Diet, Miami, and Marc Foxx, Los Angeles, where he is represented.
