Nathan Carter

In both his sculptures and his paintings, Nathan Carter employs a specific lexicon of shapes, line, and bold color to create a dynamic composition of carefully balanced elements, resulting in a sense of movement even in completely still works. Recalling the work of Alexander Calder and Joan Miró in his delicate arrangements of amorphous figures that are both abstract and lively, Carter's work conveys a sense of surreal urgency. Carter's work has been exhibited extensively, including in shows at prominent international venues such as the Tate Modern, MoMA PS1, the Palais de Tokyo, and the MAK Museum in Vienna.
