Ori Levin

Video and multimedia artist Ori Levin‘s works question the narratives and mental construction that arise from visual perception. Highly personal and performative, her videos and photographs address notions of death, time, happening, and relationship. Her work Dress Rehearsal confronts the circle of life that is enacted between a mother and her child, in particular the repetition of trauma and “betrayal of time.” Her work Nothing to Write Home About features Levin acting out various mechanisms of hiding, becoming eight household objects.

Levin’s solo shows include The Haifa Museum of Art, Israel, KAYMA Gallery, Jaffa Tel-Aviv, and Galerie Metropolis, Paris, France. Group exhibitions include Tavi Art Gallery, Tel-Aviv, Artstation Gallery, Tel-Aviv, Nachum Gutman Museum of Art, Tel Aviv and Alfred Gallery, Tel-Aviv. Levin has received grants from the American-Israel Cultural Foundation and the Art department of Tel Aviv University. She teaches Video Art and Film Theory at Tel Aviv University and American Cinema in the Open University.
