Paolo Grassino

Paolo Grassino's work offers a reflection on the drift of current society, suspended on the fence between natural and artificial, between insecurity and mutation. Senza Titolo (2013) resembles a Gordian Knot made of what could be curling telephone cords, while Branco (2013-2018), or "Herd," uses the same material to create menacing, hound-like beasts. Above all, however, Grassino's pieces recovers the full meaning of craft. Working with synthetic rubber, wood, wax and polystyrene, in addition to more advanced techniques like fusing aluminum and cement castings, Grassino brings his sculptures to another level of workmanship.

Grassino was born in Turin in 1967. He has exhibited internationally at venues including the Fourth Moscow Biennial (2011), the Frost Art Museum in Miami (2011), the St. Petersburg Loft Project ETAGI (2011), and the Rivalta Castle in Turin (2010), among others.
