Pedro Vaz

Pedro Vaz's artistic work is based on the research of landscape, mostly in painting and video-installation. He is interested in reflecting upon the power involved when an artist’s ability to represent, and the landscapes ability to be represented, come together—implying what is meant by space, place and landscape. Personal contact with a “real place” is fundamental to his artistic practice and his projects often include a tour.

Vaz has exhibited his work in a number of solo exhibitions including the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Lisbon, CAPC—Círculo de Artes Plásticas, Coimbra, Museum of Natural History, Lisbon, and Centro Difusor de Arte, Lisbon, among others. Running projects featuring Vaz´s work include Pentimento, Anozero Coimbra Contemporary Art Biennal and Cápsula, Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, Lisbon. Pedro Vaz was supported by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for Monólito project (2013), as well as for Tour du Mont-Blanc project (together with Duplacena) presented at Chiado Contemporary Art Museum, Lisbon, as part of Temps D´ Images Festival, 2014.
