Philip Grözinger’s paintings depict sinister worlds awash with color. Grözinger’s motifs are derived from science fiction, the Monty Python, and other popular images of monsters and aliens. The post-apocalyptic settings are populated by hybrid creatures and loaded with artifacts from an erstwhile civilization. Grözinger realizes these abstract narratives in oil, acrylic, pastel crayons, and spray paint. The heavily laid paint and surface textures often become another alien or object and an intrinsic part of the image.
Philip Grözinger’s work has been shown in group and solo shows, including Galerie Mikael Andersen, Copenhagen, Galerie Gerhard Hofland, Amsterdam, Museum Marta Herford, Museum Abtei Liesborn, Wadersloh, Halle 14, Leipzig, and Museum für bildenden Künste, Leipzig.
