Rachel Cabitt is a photographer known for her colorful, yet dark, intimate portraits. Inspired by the nighttime, she experiments with limited amounts of light and old photographic processes to create intricate descriptions of her experiences as a young artist living in New York. Influenced by the music scene of past New York, her work finds itself visually describing the modern day one through a soft and hazy lens. Many describe Cabitt’s work as “dream-like,” visually transporting them from reality.
While just at the beginning of her career, Cabitt has already gained notoriety from Photo District News and American Photography for her portraiture and has been showcased at Brooklyn’s Photoville.
