Sam Anderson

Sam Anderson’s practice draws from a wide range of mediums, including film, sound, assemblage, and sculpture. Her work often plays with personification and the subject of ambiguous embodiment, while drawing on existential themes such as isolation, the search for autonomy, and anxiety about death.

Sam Anderson received her MFA from Yale University in 2010. Anderson has a forthcoming exhibition at Tanya Leighton, Berlin opening in January 2020. Notable solo exhibitions include A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing, Chapter NY, New York (2018); The Great Assumption, Joan, Los Angeles, CA (2018); Big Bird, Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne (2017); Sam Anderson: The Park, SculptureCenter, New York (2017); The Lonely Bull, Rowhouse Project, Baltimore, MD (2016); Endless Love, Tanya Leighton, Berlin (2015); Talley's Folly, Mother's Tankstation, Dublin (2015); and The Mound Builders, Off Vendome, Düsseldorf (2014).
