Stefanie Popp

German artist Stefanie Popp is primarily a figurative painter who also works in sculpture, performance, and print. Her paintings depict ominous landscapes and interiors with stylized figures performing rituals of sex, religion, and yoga. She creates mythological narratives featuring humans and hybrid animals that she describes through a recurring vocabulary of symbols, including sadomasochist masks, hoods, laces, hats, bows, and tattoos.


Stefanie Popp’s work has been exhibited in group and solo shows, including Galerie Susanne Zander, Cologne, Kunstwerk, Cologne, Galerie Der Spiegel, Cologne, Marquise Gallery, Istanbul, Exile Gallery, Berlin, and Fundacion Proa, Buenos Aires.
