Stephanie Pryor

Stephanie Pryor’s abstractions explore the artist’s interests in process and material. After investigations into making figurative and landscape paintings over the past several years, Pryor returned to abstraction with a renewed energy that retains her interest in the representational. Relying on her intuition and ability to masterfully handle paint, Pryor builds layers of stains, integrating micro glitter and foil to add depth and dynamism. Paint seems to float off the canvas, evoking a lyricism that gives the paintings an emotional profundity and poetic intelligence.

Pryor has shown her work in solo shows at Ochi Projects, Los Angeles, CA, Marine Contemporary, Venice, CA, ACME at Domestic, Los Angeles, CA, CRG Gallery, New York, NY, Studio Guenzani, Milan, Italy, and New Wight Gallery, Los Angeles. Group exhibitions include Richard Heller Gallery, Santa Monica, CA, The Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte, Claremont Center for the Arts, CA and Inman Gallery, Houston, TX, among others.
