Tillman Kaiser

Sculptor and painter Tillman Kaiser borrows the angular, formalist conventions of early 20th-century abstraction. Bringing them into the contemporary era with an expansive color palette and a focus on transmission and reverberation, Kaiser further updates these strategies by employing them in conjunction with novel materials. In his sculptures, for instance, which are built from cardboard and house paint, one finds all the elegance of Cubo-Futurist modeling, with sly and hidden nods to DIY nonchalance.

Kaiser’s work has been included in exhibitions at the 21er Haus Museum in Vienna, Amsterdam’s Appel Arts Centre, Kunsthalle Wien, and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, among countless others.
