Tony Camargo

In addition to their outward precision, reminiscent of digital imagery, the carefully composed mixed media works of Tony Camargo are permeated by rich color. In his Fotomódulos series, the artist uses flat brushstrokes, made even neater using stencils and a compressor, the artist frames and interrupts photographs with invented shapes and punctuations of extreme color. Through the physical and conceptual use of color, Camargo dictates relationships between both his subjects and materials—literally redirecting each narrative to create images that are vividly unbalanced.

Camargo has had a number of solo exhibitions across Brazil over the last ten years, including Centro Cultural Banco do Nordeste, Fortaleza, Casa Triângulo, São Paulo, Fundação Cultural de Curitiba, Curitiba, Museu Alfredo Andersen, Curitiba, Museu Metropolitano de Arte de Curitiba, Curitiba, and Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Paraná, Curitiba.
