Yonatan Ullman

Yonatan Ullman's work actively surveys surrealist, modern, and abstract practices. Utilizing an assortment of mediums such as sculpture and exhibition/performance, Ullman makes installations that often feature parts of his studio, such as torn drywall fragments. Using architectural elements like Corinthian columns as well a replica of Michelangelo’s David, Ullman references classical art history. Works such as Ullman's installation entitled Empire, invite viewers to walk across a sugar-frosted floor among a series of column-like tubes that contain liquids such as mouthwash and juice concentrate. As time goes on, the columns slowly decay due to their saccharine liquid contents, calling to mind the destruction of an empire from the inside out.

Ullman has exhibited solo shows at Verge Art Miami in Miami, FL, the Mariboe Gallery in Hightstown, NJ, and Artspace TLV in Israel. In addition, Ullman has taken part in group exhibitions, which include Fresh Paint Art Fair in Israel, Factory Art Gallery in London, Perry Rubenstein Gallery and SVA gallery in New York.
