Alicia Garavito

Alicia Garavito's drawings and objects–all of which combine paper, fabric, ink and costume jewelry–articulate the significance and reach of a child's imagination. By creating a collage where the hidden and visible, beautiful and ugly, terrifying and defective coexist, Garavito takes spectators inside the complexity of a child's universe. “My artistic quest forms a narrative of memory and imagination,” says the artist, “It is a kind of incomplete story, a sort of novel youth.”

Garavito’s work has been exhibited at Bogotá’s Museum of Contemporary Art, and in London at Islington House and the Centre for Recent Drawing.
