Hanna Liden

The Swedish-born artist Hanna Liden makes darkly compelling photographs, inspired both by Scandinavian horror movies and the downtown New York art scene she now inhabits. Around 2005, she emerged with shots of masked teenagers rambling through rural landscapes. More recently she has worked in still life, grouping black candles so that they resemble a city skyline. She was included in the 2008 Whitney Biennial and has been in other important group shows such as 2010's The Island, curated by Shamim Momim. In 2011, Karma published her diaristic artist's book Out of My Mind…Back in 5 Minutes.
