Jay Kelly

Jay Kelly creates in two distinct media: works on vellum and sculptures. He uses graphite or graphite and pastel for the drawings and oil for the paintings. All of the works are abstract, concentrated, soft, and beguiling. The sculptures are metal or painted wood and stand, generally vertically-oriented, under one foot high. Their satisfaction is purely formal though not at all sternly minimal. Several pieces suggest a lightness and playfulness that pleasantly compliments their graceful construction.
