Martin Whatson

Martin Whatson is a Norwegian born artist. While studying Art and Graphic Design at the Westerdals School of Communication, he started to develop a great interest in the art of stencils and graffiti. Since 2004 he has produced unique work characterized by grey monochromatic images done with stencils and vibrantly colored graffiti. Inspired by people, posters and other graffiti, Whatson has an interest in decayed and abandoned urban spaces. His work is not charged with a political or social criticism, but rather subtle messages on which anyone can reflect and draw his or her own conclusions. He is an emotional artist who seeks to transmit feelings through aesthetics and the beauty of images and color. Since his artistic debut in 2004, he has had several solo shows and participated in many group exhibitions, both nationally and in international metropolis like Tokyo, Paris, London, New York and Los Angeles.
