Matthew Logsdon

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Matthew Logsdon’s work is deeply influenced by his personal experiences growing up in the American Midwest, being a Boy Scout, bodybuilding, idolizing the stars of the WWF, and playing with G.I. Joes in a pile of dirt. He engages with the hypocrisy within these institutions, at times embracing and rejecting them, revealing an ongoing, unresolved ambivalence about the systems that have shaped him. The gendered body, natural and built environments, and notions of work, sacrifice, and duty are focal themes of his work. His practice includes drawing, sculpture, performance and installation.

Logsdon has had solo exhibitions at Franklinton Cycle Works, Columbus, Ohio, Max The Salon, Columbus, Ohio, Winters Gallery, Columbus, Ohio, Thompson Park Installation Project, Upper Arlington, Ohio, The Ohio State University Undergraduate Gallery, Columbus, Ohio.
