Maurizio Pellegrin
Internationally renowned artist, educator and curator Maurizio Pellegrin collects found and made objects which he then carefully arranges according to principles of size, material, theory or form. Attaching these objects to the wall or installation space, Pellegrin numbers and documents each spread as a metaphor for components that come together in a single idea, drawing meaning from both the numbered sense of order and the objects themselves. Accumulating these items from his travels around the world, many of which adhere to a specific style or color, the artist’s work includes articles such as fabric, vintage photographs, boxes, and children’s shoes.
As a working artist, Pellegrin has had hundreds of exhibitions in major museums and galleries throughout his career, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C, Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland, Ohio, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Indiana, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Arizona, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice, Italy and the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Venice, Italy.
