Peter Liversidge

For the past decade conceptual artist Peter Liversidge’s work has consisted almost exclusively of proposals, both for projects which are conceivable and later executed as well as projects that are impossible, remaining only as thought experiments. For Liversidge, there is no clear distinction between the concept and the reproduction or physical manifestation of his work: in his 2012 piece Proposal for the Jury of the John Moores Painting Prize 2012, for instance, Liversidge had his typewritten proposal reproduced exactly on canvas by a painter, complete with typos and hand-written corrections.

In addition to several artist's books reproducing his proposals, Liversidge's works have been featured at international institutions including the Centre d'Art Santa Monica in Barcelona, the Whitechapel Gallery, the Harwood Museum of Art in New Mexico, and the Tate Liverpool.
