Rainer Lagemann

German artist Rainer Lagemann’s sculptures capture the human body in motion—a freeze frame of classic, timeless gestures and emotions. His works are both ethereal and concrete. Using hollow steel squares to sculpt the human form, Lagemann creates works that elicit both the strength and the delicacy of the body. Each square represents the trials and tribulations of life; the four corners are the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions of human being.

Within all of Lagemann’s wire sculptures there is a secondary layer of beauty, abstraction and mystery—the exquisite shadows of form, squares, body and spirit cast themselves upon the walls creating a second sculpture of light and shadow. The hollow squares strip away distractions, leaving a powerful vision and exploration of the human body, adding an element of mystery and abstraction

Lagemann has shown his sculptural forms in a number of exhibitions worldwide including DTR Modern Galleries, Washington DC, The Baker Museum, Naples, and the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, Palm Beach, Florida. His works have been shown in many fairs and his public installations include Museum of Biblical Art, Dallas, Texas, and Kreeger Museum, Washington, DC.
