Sarah Alice Moran

Sarah Alice Moran is a painter and native New Yorker who lives and works in Brooklyn. She received her BA in fine art and art history from Bowdoin College and her MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Confronting daily life and human history, Sarah combines studied observation, humor and imagination to create her work. The quick and forgiving nature of the monotype print making technique allowed Moran to develop a body of work through directly exploring and responding to the ink and the images. Moran worked with universal symbols that hold weight across cultures: moons, snakes and hands. By combining these images in different compositions a new mythology developed that holds an open meaning for each viewer.

Moran has exhibited her work in shows throughout the United States, most recently "Behind Your Eyes", Field Projects, New York, NY, "The Magic Hour", Brooklyn, NY, "Every Woman Biennial", La MaMa Galleria, New York, NY, "Open Ended/Identity", Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, "Booth", Anderson Ranch Art Center, Aspen, CO. Moran has recieved awards and completed residencies in the US and abroad.
