    About The Work

    Install - Prototype begins with close-ups of the hustle and bustle of contemporary New Delhi, India: flies buzz around a lightbulb, children run in the street, and workmen cut and weld metal for what will be the foundation of Asim Waqif’s water-based installation. As the world of the street fades away, the video cuts to the banks of the Yamuna (in Hindi, Jamuna) River, from which the installation—large metal letters spelling "HELP" that float on recycled plastic bottles—is lowered into the water. Once crystal clear, the Yamuna is now considered one of the most polluted rivers in the world, and Waqif’s point is thus poignantly executed.
