    About The Work

In his 1991 hand-stenciled silkscreen print Puritan Theorem (an edition of 50), Frank Moore presents the viewer with a decadent bowl of grapes, leaves, watermelon, and peaches; incongruously, an antique torture device—used for permanently disabling men suspected of homosexuality—is included amongst this friendly collection of fruits and vines. This juxtaposition of a benign fruit bowl with a violent tool is presented in an ingeniously seductive manner, poignantly conveyed with Moore’s soft, decorative lines and colors.
