About The Work

"Golden Botrus Teapot was inspired from my love of mineral specimens as a young girl. Specifically with botryoidal crystal structures. The beautiful “bumps” of these mineral specimens always intrigued me. The body was hand raised from a single sheet of sterling silver and the ancient metals technique of repoussé created the botryoidal bumps on the surface. Once the process of completing the entire teapot, which includes polishing, I placed 23 ½ karat gold leaf over the surface of the “bumps.” I chose Pau Rosewood to be used for the handle and finial of the teapot. Golden Botrus Teapot was one of 5 finalists for the 2017 Saul Bell International Design Award Competition in Art Object/Hollowware."
