Golnar Adili

Inspired by the displacement she felt while growing up in Tehran, Golnar Adili constructs photographs, collages, and assemblages that explore the longing she felt growing up between Iran and the US, always missing a place or a person. Stacking photographs with beeswax paper, she creates intricate collages that physically convey the notion of layers of meaning.

Some of the venues where Adili has shown her work include Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles, International Print Center, Brooklyn Arts Council, and the Lower East Side Printshop, all in New York. Some of the grants she has received include the Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, a 2009 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Printmaking/Drawing/Artists Books, Puffin Foundation Grant, and the Urban Artist Initiative grant.
