Jean-Luc Vilmouth

Working in installation, performance, and public interventions, Jean Luc Vilmouth aims to transform his environments, altering and examining the relationship between humans and the objects that surround them. Often employing everyday objects and materials, Vilmouth gives them new, unexpected contexts and functions, divorced from their typical uses. As the artist has stated, "What I am looking for is a place that I can respond to in the manner of an echo, to make connections, to delineate zones of exchange and of complicity, a possibility of enhancement."

Vilmouth's work has been exhibited internationally, in solo shows at the Centre Pompidou, London's Camden Art Centre, and the ICA London, among many others, and in group shows at venues including the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec, Stockholm Konsthall, the Museum of Modern Art, MoMA PS1, and the Israel Museum.
