Jennifer Small

Jennifer Small is an abstract painter whose work is about elevating visual curiosities observed in overlooked banality resulting in the analysis of her personal journey. The work, while formalist at first glance, is a record of a day in the life–a process which starts with photographic documentation. The collection of sightings are broken down and combined to become the lines, shapes, and patterns of the paintings while the color palette is left to the imagination.

Small, a Pennsylvania native, received her BFA in Painting and BS in Art Education from Millersville University and MFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design. She has exhibited her work in galleries and fairs in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, New York, Richmond, Savannah, and Chicago. Her work has also been published in New American Paintings and Studio Visit magazines. Formerly a high school art educator in the Washington DC and Chicago areas, Jennifer now works as a graphic designer in Philadelphia.
