    About The Work

Khalif Kelly works with themes of memory and identity through aesthetic idioms that draw on digital worlds and popular culture. His paintings follow the non-linear story of an unnamed child hero and his friends on their adventures in a mythical land. Inspired and influenced by such wide-ranging sources as the paintings of Thomas Gainsbourgh, the stop-animation of George Pal and 1980s computer graphics, Kelly explores themes of stereotypes, cultural identity and the mythologies behind social structures.
