About The Work
SUNDOG 35 belongs to the 'Sundog' series inspired by the meteorological phenomenon of Sundogs (parhelia), occurrences of bright spots straddling the Sun in a 22° halo. The birchwood panel is partially covered with geometric shapes forming a prismatic, radiant pattern, and intersected by two parts with raw wood. The use of a wooden panel adds another layer of dimension, with natural stains heightening the illusion and completing the pattern. The raw wood brings yet another element of nature into the series, inviting us into a dynamic story lit by the warm reds of sunrise and sunset. All the wooden panels used in the series were custom-made by a carpenter based on the artist’s models.
SUNDOG 35 was featured in Linda King Ferguson’s solo exhibition Kissing the Sky at the Channel To Channel Gallery.
